Why Staying Home Might Save You More Money

  

I talk to so many moms who long to be home with their kids. Moms that think that it’s not financially possible. They are working outside the home and feel that their family cannot live without their extra income. I want to challenge that mindset today. I want to invite you to think outside the box for just a few minutes. Dream with me!

Have you ever thought about how much it really cost you to work? Have you actually ever added up the cost of gas, food, work clothes, daycare, work parties? So many moms work just to pay for these things and they don’t even realize it. If you are making extra after these expenses. Depending on how much more, you could easily make the extra working from home. Especially if you cut done on expenses.

Now lets look at your expenses. I want you to ask yourself these questions. Do you have 4 streaming services? Are you shopping all the time for things you really don’t need, only to clutter your home more and cause you more stress? Are you buying coffee out everyday? Do you go to the nail salon every 2 weeks? Do you get your hair done every 4-6 weeks?

How many other subscriptions have you signed up for that you are not even using? You may think that it’s only $5 here and $10 there, but those add up quick. Really take some time to add up all those subscriptions and see how much you are spending. I bet you will find some that you forgot you even signed up for! How much do you spend on home decor? Your home is likely already decorated. Leave it that way a little longer. You don’t have to change it out every month.

Now I’m not saying, don’t ever treat yourself or have any selfcare. It doesn’t matter if you work from home or outside the home. All of us need selfcare! However there are other ways to accomplish feeling and looking your best. There are so many way to cut way down on cost. For example instead of spending $60 at the nail salon you could spend $18 on luxury press ons that last the same amount of time.

Now let’s look at food cost. Does you job cause you to have to eat out every night because you don’t have the time or energy to cook? Think about this, if you were home with your kids not only would you be home to prepare homemade meals. You could also spend quality time with your kids in the kitchen teaching them the lost art of homemaking. When you stop eating out every night and instead buy basic staples for you kitchen. You will save so much that you were spending to eat out every night. Start making your coffee at home as well, it’s so much better and you will know what’s in it.

I have been home with my kids since my oldest was 5. She is now 24 and I didn’t have to have my nails done every 2 weeks. You have to look at your expenses and decide what is more important the money you want to spend on so many unnecessary things or time with your kids!
