5 ways to get motivated when you’ve lost your crojo!

There have been lots of times over the years that I have lost my motivation to crochet! Thankfully I have always managed to get going again. Sometimes it may take months and sometimes just a day or so. Life can change so quickly. At times crochet is our comfort and then there are times we just can’t seem to pick the hook back up and we often don’t understand exactly why. No matter where you are in your crochet journey I hope this will be an inspiration for you.

  1. If you are a crocheter then most likely, like me you love squishy soft yarn. One way I get motivated is to go through my yarn, especially if it needs organizing. All the different colors and textures help get my creativity flowing again.
  2. I look through Pinterest for ideas. This is one of my favorite ways to get motivated. Sometimes I will just search crochet. Other times I simply look through my crochet boards and see what I already have saved. Surely if I saved it, I that means at one time I was interested in working on it. Right!
  3. I let the season help motivate. Think about the coming season. It’s currently January so I have been thinking about Valentine makes. If you sell your finished pieces then you should be already working on Spring market prep. So your motivation may be sales.
  4. Look around your home and see what you might need. Do you need new washcloths or dish towels? Do you need to freshen up a room with a new set of coasters.? Do you need a new scarf to update your wardrobe? Sometimes losing our motivation or creativity can be for a lot of different reasons and many times it may be that we have been putting ourselves on the back burner for way to long. So practice some self care and create something that brings life to you or your space. It is ok to put yourself first.
  5. Bless someone else. Think about who you know that could use a gift or cheering up. Make something and give it to that person. As a random act of kindness. It always feels so good to give!
