Crochet on the Go & Never Get Stuck Without Yarn & Hook

Do you ever get stuck waiting somewhere you didn’t have time to plan for and you find yourself wishing you had yarn & hook to help pass the time? Well I’ve got you covered.

When I travel nothing less than a backpack full of all the (what if) yarn colors will do. Of course the WIP I’m working on. Oh & the one I started last week! Then, two extra colors in case I finish said WIP & also two colors of cotton. Cause what if I need to make something with cotton yarn? You get me right?

Did you know there are bags and backpacks just for yarn crafts? Cute bags go right up there on my list of things I love right beside crochet. You know, not just any bag will do. They even have a hole to pull your current WIP through as you are working. I can’t decide between the pink & this floral.

Currently I’m using a regular backpack, but I have my eye on the ones especially for yarn crafts. A large tote or a backpack are great especially when I have a planned trip. However, there are times I only have time to grab my purse. Maybe I’m going somewhere that I don’t think I will have time to crochet.

I have a medium zipper pouch that I keep at least one hook & one skein of cotton yarn in.

I have a small zipper pouch that I keep extra hooks, scissors & a tapestry needle in. Tip: (This is also where I stick my cut pieces of yarn after weaving in my ends.)

Both these pouches stay in my purse at all times. That way if I’m ever anywhere with time on my hands or even just a few minutes I always have something I can work on.

Now of course I could just stuff it in my purse or in a pocket of my purse but I want to make sure my project doesn’t get snagged or dirty. My favorite zipper pouch is my Vera Bradley medium zipper pouch like this but today I was using this pouch that came as a part of a set I had ordered to organize our games.

Like today I had to take a child to an appointment. I knew it would be a long appointment & that there was only one single chair. I knew I wouldn’t have a lot of room for a large bag and that I wouldn’t want to hold a big bag through out the entire appointment. I only took my crossbody into the appointment. I had my zipper pouch in my crossbody so I was prepared with a project that I could quickly & easily pull out & quickly put away if I needed to. I was able to finish a trivet that I started on the ride there.

Don’t worry if you don’t use cotton yarn you could easily fit a small skein of acrylic yarn in a medium zipper pouch.

Of course you don’t need any special pouch or bag. I personally just love cute bags & pouches. You can often find cute zipper pouches at the dollar tree that you can fill & drop into any bag.

Do you feel having yarn & hook with you is a must , like it is for me? Drop a pic in the comments of how you keep yours on hand . I’d love to see all your ideas.
